I first heard about Stipendium Hungaricum from a friend who had already gone through the process. It wasn't something widely talked about in Lebanon at the time, and I doubt I would have found it on my own when I did. That conversation changed a lot for me.

Stipendium Hungaricum is a scholarship offered by the Hungarian government that covers full tuition, student accommodation, a monthly stipend, and health insurance, one of the more complete fully-funded options available to Lebanese students looking to study abroad.

In Lebanon, the application runs through the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. I picked a university and program from the Stipendium Hungaricum website, gathered my documents, transcripts, motivation letter, proof of language proficiency, and a few others listed on the Stipendium Hungaricum page, and submitted before the January 15th deadline. That date is fixed, so starting early genuinely matters.

I submitted my application, went through the selection process, and received my acceptance. Three years later, I graduated with my degree from a Hungarian university.

What stands out most when I look back isn't the scholarship itself, it's how close I came to never knowing about it. A single conversation opened a door I didn't know was there. That's exactly the kind of information this platform exists to share.
