AUST offers 32 undergraduate programs and tracks across four faculties: Arts & Sciences (FAS), Business & Economics (FBE), Engineering (FE) and Health Sciences (FHS). Its Facts and Figures page counts 26 degree-granting undergraduate programs; its History page counts 32 academic disciplines.

Four campuses: Ashrafieh in Beirut (main), Zahlé, Sidon and Bhamdoun.

AUST follows the American credit-based system: the Fall (from October) and Spring (from February) semesters last 15 weeks and the Summer term (from June) 5 weeks. All instruction is in English in the English Section and in French in the French Section, which offers programs in Business and Economics and in Arts and Sciences. A bachelor's degree requires 135 credit hours starting from the Freshman level and 105 credit hours starting from the Sophomore level.

The programs listed with this page show the credit counts on AUST's program pages. AUST's published study plans for all Arts & Sciences and Business & Economics programs start at the Sophomore level and run three years; no readable plan is published for the Engineering and Health Sciences programs.

AUST holds institutional accreditation from Evalag until September 30, 2030. Its BS in Computer and Communications Engineering (EAC) and BS in Computer Science (CAC), both at the Beirut campus, are accredited by ABET, and the Faculty of Business and Economics holds IACBE accreditation.

Application

Application Types + Windows

AUST admits students for the Fall, Spring and Summer sessions. Applications are available online and at the Admissions Office and must be submitted before the end of September (Fall), the end of January (Spring) or the end of June (Summer). Undergraduate admission decisions are made by the admissions committees of the faculties concerned. Candidates are required to sit the AUST English Entrance Exam and the Math Placement Exam (see Requirements for the recognized English tests that can replace the English exam).

Withdrawing from a course after the drop/add deadline gives a W grade; not following the withdrawal procedure gives an F; no course may be taken more than 3 times.

Entry levels and special cases

Sophomore level

for holders of the Lebanese Government Secondary Certificate (Bacc II) or the French Baccalaureate, who must apply to the Sophomore level, and of the Technical Baccalaureate, German Abitur, Italian Maturita, the International Baccalaureate, IGCSE/GCE A-Level, CEGEP II or an Arab official secondary certificate.

Freshman level

for applicants who followed a non-Lebanese program: permission from the Lebanese Equivalence Committee, the SAT with a minimum of 870 (Arts) or 950 (Science), the last three years of school certificates, and a freshman year of at least 30 credits. Holders of certificates other than the Lebanese and French ones may also apply to this level.

Advanced Placement

freshman credits may be given for high grades on the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) exams, after the approval of the academic departments concerned.

Early admission

students with a cumulative average of at least 80% over their last two years of secondary school may apply before receiving the official certificate results. Admission is conditional on presenting the certificate, and such students cannot register until every admission requirement is met.

Applicants without a recognized certificate

candidates who have passed their 25th birthday may enroll at the Freshman level. The Lebanese Ministry recognizes AUST degrees only for students admitted on the basis of a recognized certificate.

French Section

programs of 105 or 106 credits in the Faculty of Business and Economics and in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, taught in French. After the Baccalaureate, candidates sit an entrance exam in French, English and Mathematics. AUST's French Section page adds that students transferring from recognized institutions must meet AUST's admission conditions, present an official transcript certified by the Lebanese Ministry of Education, and may transfer credits from American-credit universities with a grade of at least 60%.

Tuition (AY 2026-2027)

AUST prices undergraduate tuition per credit hour and quotes totals for a 15-credit Fall or Spring semester and a 6-credit Summer semester (its scholarship rules treat 12 credits per semester as full-time). All figures are in USD.

AUST's tuition page does not state an academic year (checked in September 2026). Its Facts and Figures page for AY 2025-2026 shows the same $220 per credit hour.

Method of payment: new and continuing students pay 25% of the tuition plus the registration fee at registration. Students with financial problems may apply for deferred payment at the Bursar's Office before registration. AUST prints two deferred-payment schedules without labelling the columns: a 25% down payment followed by three payments of 25%, or a 50% down payment followed by two payments of 25%. A student who does not pay the deferred fees by the set deadlines loses all credits for that semester or summer session and pays a $20 late-payment fee. A student with outstanding financial obligations cannot complete registration, graduate, receive grades, transcripts or other documents.

Graduate programs (for reference): $320 per credit hour for the MBA, MS and specialty programs (the Teaching Diploma is $265 per credit hour); graduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences also pay a one-time laboratory fee of $500. The graduate application fee is $50.

Student housing: three dormitories within walking distance of the main campus are available for students in need. A double room is $300 per month, with a $150 deposit at the beginning of each year (AUST does not publish a single-room price). Scholarships

University-offered scholarships

AUST offers partial scholarships and work/study grants to qualified students, tuition reductions for siblings and for students who lost their father, and partial scholarships to top Lebanese Baccalaureate achievers.

Requirements

SAT

The SAT is one of the conditions for the Freshman level, for applicants who followed a non-Lebanese program (AUST's SAT code is 4973; have ETS send scores to the Office of the Registrar). Holders of the Lebanese Government Secondary Certificate or the French Baccalaureate apply to the Sophomore level, where no SAT requirement is listed. SAT I and II scores are valid for two years.

High-school grades

• Sophomore level: the Official Lebanese Government Secondary Certificate (previously Bacc II), the Technical Baccalaureate (BT3), the French Baccalaureate, the German Abitur or the Italian Maturita; the International Baccalaureate with 6 subjects (3 at Higher Level, 3 at Standard Level); IGCSE and GCE A-Level with 7 different subjects (5 at Ordinary Level and 2 at Advanced Level, excluding Arabic), where AUST does not recognize Advanced Supplementary subjects or Ordinary Level alone; CEGEP II; and all official Arab secondary certificates. All certificates must be recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
• Freshman level: a recognized secondary school certificate based on 12 years of schooling, permission from the Lebanese Equivalence Committee to follow a non-Lebanese program (evidence of living and studying outside Lebanon for at least 2 years of secondary school or 3 years of elementary or intermediate school), the SAT, the last three years of school certificates, and a freshman class of at least 30 credits.
• Technical certificates: holders of a BT3 in any stream may join AUST's majors and complete assigned complementary credits (Computer Science, ICT and Computer & Communications Engineering are open to specific BT3 tracks; a BT3 in Nursing leads to Clinical Laboratory Science). Holders of a TS3 with a cumulative GPA of at least 12/20 may apply within the scope of the majors in the Ministry's decree and are admitted to the Sophomore or Junior level accordingly; at least 50% of the credits of a degree must be taken at AUST, and at least 70% for an engineering degree or any degree that takes 5 academic years.

EEE scores of 551 and above, and the TOEFL scores above, are valid for two years.
