LIU offers 39 undergraduate programs across five schools (Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering and Pharmacy), plus a Freshman Program, on campuses across Lebanon (the application portal lists seven: Beirut, Bekaa, Saida, Nabatieh, Tripoli, Tyre and Rayak) and international campuses in Yemen, Senegal and Mauritania.

LIU runs an academic semester system with a credit-hour curriculum modeled on the American system.

LIU's pages disagree on the number of Lebanese campuses: the application portal lists seven, while the About, Campuses and academic-policies pages count nine (adding Mount Lebanon and Halba-Akkar). The home page mentions both numbers.

Application

Application Types + Windows

Apply online through the application portal (which currently offers Fall 2026-2027), or directly at a campus admission office. LIU's academic calendar lists Fall, Spring and Summer semesters and their registration windows, but LIU does not publish application deadlines or say which semesters accept new students. The School of Pharmacy takes students once a year: apply from May until mid-August for the Pharmacy Entrance Exam (LIU's page does not state a year).

Other registration dates in the 2026-27 calendar: the add/drop period runs Oct 5–7, 2026 (Fall) and Feb 22–24, 2027 (Spring); Fall midterms are Nov 16–21, 2026 and Spring midterms Apr 5–10, 2027; Summer and Fall 2027-28 registration ends at midnight on May 23, 2027, and later windows open on Jun 14 (Summer and Fall), Aug 16 to 29 (Fall window 3) and Sep 13, 2027 (Fall window 4). The start date of Fall 2027-28 has not been published.

Notes on the semesters

Fall

the Fall 2026-27 semester begins on Oct 5, 2026, and the application portal offers "Fall 2026-2027".

Course load

the maximum load in a regular semester is 18 to 20 credit hours (up to 21 in special cases, when your cumulative GPA is 2 or above and the load lets you graduate at the end of that semester); in the Summer term the maximum is 8 credit hours.

Change of major

within a school, the request goes to the department and the dean; moving to another school is treated as a new admission to that school. The fee is LBP 2,500,000. Change-of-major periods: Nov 5, 2026 to Feb 14, 2027 (Fall) and Mar 22 to Jul 4, 2027 (Spring).

Withdrawal and attendance

voluntary withdrawal after the add/drop period is allowed during the withdraw period but the tuition is non-refundable; missing more than 33.33% of a course gives an AW (academic withdrawal) grade. Withdraw periods: Nov 30, 2026 to Jan 14, 2027 (Fall), Apr 19 to Jun 3, 2027 (Spring) and Jul 12 to Aug 5, 2027 (Summer).

Pharmacy

one admission window a year (May to mid-August) for the Pharmacy Entrance Exam. Students accepted to Pharmacy are not eligible for financial aid.

Freshman Program

students who need a freshman year complete at least 30 credits in Freshman Arts (31 credits) or Freshman Sciences (32 credits), and submit the Ministry freshman permission and SAT scores (see Requirements).

Transfer

transfer students submit their university transcript with course descriptions; LIU reviews which courses can transfer to the chosen program.

Tuition (AY 2026-2027)

All figures are in USD per credit. LIU calculates tuition by the number of credits; social security, registration fees and books are not included in the credit price. LIU may change its fees and charges without notice.

Carried over from 2025-2026, not yet confirmed for 2026-2027. LIU's tuition page shows these rates without stating an academic year (checked in September 2026), and they are identical to the 2025-2026 rates.

LIU's tuition page does not say whether the registration fee and the NSSF are charged per semester or per year (the 2025-26 version of this page said "per semester" and "per year" respectively). Registration fees are applied as soon as you register courses, and students who miss pre-registration pay the late registration fee. Lebanese applicants also submit their national social security papers (Daman), or pay $135 and complete the papers at the social security office.

Payments can be made at First National Bank (FNB) and OMT; the payment voucher is on your UMS account (Payments page), and LIU asks you to contact the admissions office of your nearest campus about the payment method. Refunds: 100% of tuition during the add/drop period; no refund afterwards, although you may petition; registration fees and all other university fees are non-refundable.

Scholarships

University-offered scholarships

LIU does not publish a list of named scholarships. Its financial-aid page says LIU has created several types of financial-aid programs and grants newly enrolled students a competitive package; the tuition page adds that each application is reviewed by a board that decides eligibility and sets the percentage.

How to apply for financial aid

1. Get the Financial Aid Application form from the Students' Affairs Office (SAO) (LIU's tuition page says the business office, and its school pages say the Public Relations Office).
2. Schedule an interview with a Financial Aid Officer (FAO) at the Students' Affairs Office.
3. Submit the completed form with the supporting documents before the official deadline: the application deadline is the end of the 5th week of an academic semester, and LIU says the dates are posted on its website and in the academic calendar (the 2026-27 calendar I checked does not list them).
4. Renew every academic year with the Renewal Form before the published deadline.

Requirements

SAT

SAT scores are not among the documents required for regular undergraduate admission. The Freshman Program is different: it requires SAT I and SAT II scores (at least 3 subjects each) so that the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education can accredit the freshman year. LIU's Freshman page gives two sets of thresholds: minimum required SAT scores of 2600 for Freshman Arts and 2750 for Freshman Sciences, and "quality points" (SAT I and II combined) of 2150 for Freshman Arts and 2300 for Freshman Sciences and Freshman Engineering, which it says may change according to the Ministry of Education. Confirm the current threshold with admissions.

High-school grades

• A certified copy of the Lebanese Baccalaureate (BAC II), the Technical Baccalaureate (BT3), or a recognized equivalent (foreign baccalaureate).
• Also required: one copy of the identification card, one copy of the family civil status record, one recent passport-sized colour photograph, the national social security papers (Daman) or the $135 payment, the application fee and the entrance exam fee.
• Freshman Program applicants also submit the certified Ministry of Higher Education freshman permission, certified grades for grades 10, 11 and 12, and SAT I and SAT II results.
• The Freshman Program is closed to students who have completed the Lebanese Baccalaureate or an equivalent. After the freshman year, students enter a major at the sophomore level based on their average or GPA. LIU's page also names a Freshman Engineering track, which is not in its programs table.
• Transfer applicants submit a certified copy of their university transcript with course descriptions, in addition to the documents above.
