USJ teaches undergraduate programs on five Beirut campuses (Humanities, Medical Sciences, Innovation & Sport, François Debbané Social Sciences, Sciences & Technology), on regional campuses in North Lebanon, South Lebanon and Zahlé & the Bekaa, and in Dubai. This page covers first-cycle degrees: the Licence, engineering, architecture and the medical and health degrees.

USJ follows the European credit system (ECTS): one full-time year is 60 credits. A Licence takes 180 to 240 credits, a Master 90 to 120 and a Doctorate 180. Engineering diplomas are 300 credits, Architecture 342, Medicine 420, Pharmacy 360 and Dental Surgery 300.

Teaching is mainly in French. Several programs are taught in English (for example Business Administration, Economics, Hospitality Management, Insurance Science, Translation, Speech and Language Therapy, Fashion Design, Data Science, Computer & Communications Engineering and Mechanical Engineering), and the Institute of Oriental Studies (ILO) and the Arabic-language Licence in religious sciences teach in Arabic. Unless officially exempt, every Licence includes 6 credits of Arabic.

Application​

Application Types + Windows​

USJ runs three undergraduate admission periods (Early, Regular and Late) and also admits undergraduate students in the second semester. Apply online through the admission portal, or in person at a submission office on campus (CSH, CFDSS, CST, CLN, CLS or CZB) between 10:00 and 15:30. Rank up to 9 programs in order of preference; the Late period and the second semester allow a single choice. The admission committees only review complete files. You can reapply in each period at no extra cost.

The windows below are the ones USJ has published: the three periods for entry in AY 2026-27 (all now closed). USJ had not published the Fall 2027-28 dates or the second-semester 2026-27 dates when this page was prepared (September 2026).

Confirmation and payment (2026-27 cycle): Regular and Late periods, within 6 days of the results. Early period, programs without entrance exams: confirm by Feb 11, 2026 and pay by Mar 6, 2026; FM, FMD, IPM, ISO and IET: confirm by Mar 6, 2026 and pay by Apr 3, 2026. An admission that is not confirmed in time is cancelled.

Academic calendar 2026-27: the first semester began on Aug 31, 2026, the second semester begins on Jan 18, 2027 and the summer trimester on May 31, 2027; the first semester of 2027-28 begins on Aug 30, 2027 (valid for all institutions except the Faculty of Law and Political Science). Differences between the periods

Early (anticipée)
Needs the transcripts of the First and Second Secondary classes (Seconde and Première). Up to 9 ranked program choices.
Regular
Requires the transcripts of the First, Second and Third Secondary classes (Seconde, Première and Terminale). Up to 9 ranked program choices.
Late (tardive)
One program choice only. A certified copy of the Baccalaureate is mandatory, and some programs require a higher French or English level (see Requirements).
Second semester
One program choice only, with a certified copy of the Baccalaureate. The same $100 application fee covers it.
Joint selection boards
In the Early and Regular periods you can be admitted to several programs, except those governed by the same board, which gives one admission per candidate according to your priority order. Board 1 (file-based) covers ETLAM, IPHY, ESF, FSI, ESIB, ESAR, INCI, ESIA, ESIAM and FS in both periods, plus FP in the Early period; Board 2 (exam-based) covers FM, FMD, IPM, ISO and IET in the Early period, and FP, IPM, ISO and IET in the Regular period. Within 30 days of the results you can ask to switch to a lower-priority choice on the same board.
Admission on title (admission sur titre)
Rules published for the 2026 Baccalaureate: top three nationally in the Lebanese or French Bac, or an average of at least 18.5/20 (all institutions except Medicine), or at least 17/20 (all except Medicine and Dental Medicine), with the required Bac track or specialties. For the 18.5 and 17 averages you must already have applied in the Early or Regular period. In all cases you confirm within ten days of the Bac results, email the title-based admission form (downloaded from USJ's site) to admission@usj.edu.lb before the deadline, and reach the required TALF/TALA category before the final registration date. The rules for the 2027 Bac had not been published yet.
Which programs are open when
Medicine (FM) and Dental Medicine (FMD) accept applications in the Early period only; Pharmacy (PharmD) in the Early and Regular periods only. The second semester is not offered for FM, FMD, FP, ETLAM, IPHY, IPM, ISO, IET, FSI, FDSP, ETIB or the English Bachelor in Political and Administrative Sciences; ESIB Electrical Engineering takes second-semester entrants at the Sciences & Technology campus only. Regular-period admission to Pharmacy and to Nutrition & Dietetics, and Late-period admission to Nutrition & Dietetics, Medical Laboratory, Midwifery and Translation, go through an entrance exam.
International candidates (admission à titre étranger)
Non-Lebanese applicants who studied the last three secondary years abroad state this in their file and benefit from a quota of places set by each institution.

Tuition (AY 2026-2027)​

USJ charges tuition per ECTS credit and publishes one rate per institution (no separate rate for international students is listed). A full academic year is 60 credits: the "year" column below is 60 × the per-credit rate, and the "full program" column is the per-credit rate × the total credits of the degree. Both are calculated here from the published rates, before scholarships, registration fees and other charges.

Carried over from 2025-2026, not yet confirmed for 2026-2027. The rates below are USJ's per-credit prices for AY 2025-2026, published in its 2025-2026 catalogue and repeated in the 2026-27 guide. USJ had not published 2026-27 rates when this page was prepared. For 2025-2026, 70% of the credit price is paid in USD and 30% in LBP at the actual dollar rate. Tuition is usually paid in four yearly installments; you may ask to split it over 8 to 10 months.

How USJ publishes the rates: each credit price is a USD part plus an LBP part for semester 1 of 2025-2026 (for example Medicine: US$302 + LBP 10,935,000; Insurance Science: US$96 + LBP 3,670,000). The dollar figures below are the equivalents at 89,500 LBP per USD, so they are not the cash amount in dollars. USJ-Dubai (Bachelor of Law and Bachelor in Data Science) is priced separately, at AED 966 per credit; the tables below are the rates of the Lebanon campuses.

University-offered scholarships​

In AY 2025-2026 USJ's Financial Aid Office awarded $17,398,280 in social grants and $3,648,284 in loans (a total of $21,046,564), and more than 52% of USJ students receive financial aid. The 2026-27 guide adds that in 2024-2025 USJ granted $28 million in scholarships and financial aid, with more than 64% of students benefiting. The total of academic scholarships, need-based aid and other tuition reductions cannot exceed 75% of tuition, except for the Merit Scholarship and donations that cover full tuition. A student may hold only one academic scholarship (the Honors Scholarship excepted). All USJ scholarships and financial aid exclude registration fees, the cost of books and student-service fees (2025-2026 policy). The rules below are those on USJ's financial-aid pages in September 2026; the Merit, Magis and Honors documents are the 2026-2027 versions.

Requirements​

SAT​

No SAT requirement appears in USJ's admission conditions: the documents required with the application file are the secondary-school transcripts, the Baccalaureate (or equivalent) and identity documents. Admission is based on your school record (or on entrance exams for some programs) and on USJ's placement tests in French and English.

High-school grades​

  • A Lebanese Baccalaureate or a diploma recognized as equivalent by the Equivalence Commission of the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Non-Lebanese curricula need this equivalence.
  • Required documents: a passport-sized photo; a recent civil status record (passport for foreigners); the certified Baccalaureate certificate if you already hold it (mandatory for the Late period and the second semester); transcripts of the First and Second Secondary classes (Early period) or of the First, Second and Third Secondary classes (Regular and Late periods, second semester); the school-certified summary of the transcripts; and any higher-education studies already completed, with their equivalence.
  • Most programs select on file (Baccalaureate of any track or specialties). Entrance exams apply to Medicine and Dental Medicine (Early period), Pharmacy (Regular period), Nutrition & Dietetics (Regular and Late), Medical Laboratory (Late), Midwifery (Late) and Translation (Late). Speech & Language Therapy, Psychomotor Therapy and Occupational Therapy add an oral test (the guide also mentions a written test for Speech & Language Therapy, which the 2026-27 application file and exam calendar do not list). Law (FDSP) requires mastery of Arabic. Candidates to FM, FMD and FP may sit the admission exam at most twice.
  • Exam dates of the 2026-27 cycle (closed): FM and FMD Jan 16–17, 2026; FP Jul 16–17, 2026; late-period exams Aug 27, 2026; oral tests communicated individually. The dates for the next cycle had not been published yet.

Language proficiency​

Before registering, candidates take USJ's French Placement Test (TALF) for French-taught programs, or the English Placement Test (TALA) for English-taught programs. TALF categories: A = 50/100 or more, B = 40–49, C = 30–39, D = below 30 (2-hour test); a category A result stays valid for 10 years, B to D for 3 years. The English test has three parts (listening, reading, essay) and places you in level A (English for specific purposes), B (upper intermediate), C, D or E. A candidate in TALF category B who registers takes compulsory remedial French courses, in place of a 4-credit elective, in up to three sessions; a student who fails all three cannot renew the registration.

French-taught degrees also require English: a student classified in category A by the English Placement Test (TALA) must pass the level-A course to graduate. You are exempt from the TALA with a TOEFL of at least 80 (internet-based) or 548 (paper-based), or an IELTS of at least 6.5, taken at most two years before registration. Unless officially exempt, 6 credits of Arabic are required in every Licence. USJ's two official sources map the English scores differently: the guide treats TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS 6.5 as level B, while the admission-conditions page treats them as category A, says category A (or TOEFL 80 / IELTS 6.5) is needed to enroll in the English programs, and asks for the category before the application file is submitted for the period. Confirm yours with the Testing Service (stests@usj.edu.lb).
